Sometimes I’d like to imagine what Jamaine and Kalia would be like when they grow up.
Would they wear medical scrubs and sling stethoscopes around their necks, flying from one hospital room to another just like modern day superheroines?
Or would they don immaculate aprons and toques on their heads, making magic in their kitchen whipping heavenly masterpieces for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Of course, that’s still too far away and they’ve got an exciting lifetime ahead to chart their life’s direction. But I just get excited observing them during playtime when they pretend to be doctors attending to their sick stuffed toys. Or when they treat their visitors to spaghetti and cakes made out of mushy play dough.
It helps that they’ve got an aunt who’s a doctor and a dad who’s an awesome cook to look up to.
If you ask me, I’d say, when they grow up, I just want them to follow their passions and live to be the best they can be.
I always tell Kernan that I want us to be so well off that we can send our girls to the best schools and let them take whatever course they want without having to worry about its profitability.
I don’t want them to get jobs.
I want them to build careers where they can do what they love and get paid good money.
With Jamaine starting school next year, our dream – building journey is about to begin.
I’m sure we’ve got exciting times ahead!
