I’ve flipped through our DVD case over and over, but on that day, something about the movie title made me stop and decide to watch it.
Have you watched “The Bucket List?”
I’ve heard about this movie several times but never felt moved to watch it until recently. And it’s happening just at the right timing too. I’m re-evaluating my goals this year to see where I am now and how far still I need to go.
The story’s simple really. Two old men living worlds apart are thrown together at the point of death: Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson), a man who’s way too wealthy to be bothered by hospital bills and funeral costs, and Carter Chambers, a humble mechanic who had to work hard to afford everything he has in his life.
While bunked together in a cancer ward, they find themselves making a list of things they’ve always wanted to do before they “kick the bucket.” Unlikely as it may have been in the beginning, they strike up a friendship as they check off the things on their list one by one.
While watching the movie, we’re reminded of a truth that we always seem to ignore. When you’re about to die, it no longer matters how much you’ve achieved or how much wealth you’ve amassed. You’ll just stop and ask yourself, “how much have you really loved and lived?”
Too often, we get lost in the mundane concerns of life, time has passed us by before we know it. We lose precious time that never rewinds.
Everyone of us is dying everyday, some of us just go way ahead of the others. But when we think about it, we don’t really have to wait for our final days before we finally pursue the things we want to do. Every waking moment gives us a chance a to do it.
I used to write about things I want to do in my lifetime but I’ve never really sat down and made a list of everything I want to do.
Do you have a bucket list?
I’d better stop blogging this and write one right now. Just the perfect way to begin this week.

It really has that effect ‘no after you watch it. I mean, we all know it’s just a movie but I do know it’s possible in real life too. Hope all the things in your bucket list come true.
Ahhh, love this movie. I have a bucket list in my head…inspired by this movie too. Now all I need is to write it all down =)

Ako rin, it used to be just in my head. Now I’ve started to write a few of them. Working my way to 100!
Uy, ako rin, I have so many things I want to do in this lifetime, but I haven’t listed them down yet. Malista nga so I can cross things out as I go along.
Hey Dea! They always say it’s a good idea to write them down. Crossing them out as you go along would help encourage you to fulfill more of them too.
