I was browsing through Flickr, when I saw this photo of a brown puppy.
I remembered the puppy my brother and I had when we were kids that looked just like this one.
We named our puppy after a friend who had brown hair. (I figured later on it wasn’t really nice to name your pets after friends.
)
The kind soul who gave us that puppy probably thought we were gonna be good pet lovers.
But I think we just weren’t made to own a pet. We weren’t really that particular about dog food, pet supplements or pet grooming.
We actually gave our puppy some bones and left over food because that’s what the other pet owners around us did. (Ack!)
Sadly, the poor puppy didn’t live long and went to pet heaven just a few months later.
We never got another pet after that.
I am in awe of those people who really go the extra mile for their pets. Special dog food, pet vitamins, salon grooming, fashionable clothes and the whole shebang.
When you think about it, having one is almost like having your own kid.

I have lost 3 puppies before, all while I was still a kid. I have a new puppy right now, my sister named him Taffy and he’s 7 months old already (still a pup in doggie years).
Taffy’s half beagle and half askal, but more of a beagle because of his long, droppy ears and his penchant on sniffing.
I don’t dress him up or send him to a salon, but I do give him special dog food and gives him a bath every other week. And of course, walk him around our neighborhood at least 30 minutes each day.
Having a dog is so much fun, although has the weight of responsibility. But having your own baby would be so much better.
For now, Taffy will do for me.
