The big little surprise

“So do I have another surprise gift?” I ask.

Ayan o, gift ko sayo,” he said, while pointing to my belly.

I run my hand up and down the gift that is five months in the making.

Five months and counting.

Our baby number 2 came as a big little surprise. Proof that things may not always go according to your plan but the surprises and blessings are well worth it.

Jan Kalia (yes, we already know baby 2 is a girl) will say ‘Hello world’ in June.

It took me quite awhile to absorb the fact that I’m carrying her inside me. I was back to my pre-pregnancy shape last January and I could even wear my old jeans.

Only when I started feeling little twitches in my belly did I realize, Kalia really is there.

I was scared.

I am still scared.

I know I’m doing pretty great with one, but can I do it with two?

I just think I’m such a great mom that You decided to give me two angels to take care of.

I’ve done this once, I can definitely do this again.

My pregnancy now is a breeze. Except for the occasional back pains, I have no morning sickness, no cravings and no swelled legs. My energy level is still up and I can still carry Jamaine.

I’m excited to see how Kalia will look like. This time, I hope she looks like me.

The only thing I’m not looking forward to is the post-partum blues. That was tough for me after Jamaine came out but thankfully, I went through it just fine.

I’ve been drawing much strength from my hubby. He’s excited with Kalia as much as he was with Jamaine. Even if I don’t have much cravings, he always goes home with a treat for me. He’s even the one patrolling my vitamin intake because sometimes I forget to take all four of them.

Four months to go. I’m hoping Kalia will come out on the 10th of June, the sixth anniversary for Kernan and me.

I’m imagining how it would be like to wake up one morning, with three faces smiling up at me: my hubby and my two babies.

That would truly be a wonderful gift.

Haha… Thanks girl! Actually, mas payat ako ngayon kumpara sa first pregnancy ko. But it’s all good, kasi napatunayan ko nang kaya ko ring pumayat agad after giving birth. Bubuo na ko ng kikay squad sa bahay. :D

wow you’re pregnant again! (hmm did i miss this in your posts?) congratulations :) i can actually feel your nervousness about taking care of 2 kids at the same time. parang ang hirap no? but i guess if our moms have done it, then it’s not impossible. good luck with the pregnancy! :)

Nope. Ngayon ko lang talaga sinulat. :) Parang gusto ko nang magsuot ng kapa at maging “super mom.” Actually it’s the same situation with my brother and I, halos magkasunod talaga kami, but my mom handled us pretty well. Siyempre kaya ko rin to. Thanks girl! :D

altho i’m also expecting my second child, baligtad tayo. i’m bigger this time, and feel more symptoms, although not that bad naman. there’s a 5-yr gap between this one and my first born. but like you, i’m nervous, too. for me kasi, it’s like starting all over again from step one.

goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Thanks Ruth! :) Thankful lang talaga ako na “barely there” ang feeling ng pregnancy ko so that I can still work and take care of my first baby. Trying to enjoy one day at a time kasi Im sure mabilis na lang ‘to. Good luck with your pregnancy too and I hope your delivery will be a breeze. :D

have fun with your pregnancy and congratulations! my second pregnancy was a breeze too — and you know what, mas excited pa ang big sister for her new sister to come. here’s a tip: shop with jamaine for a gift that she wanted to give to her little sister and secretly buy a gift for jamaine that would supposedly come from her new sister — that would be real fun! and if you come for the EB be warned that my girls would cling to your round stomache, hahaha

Korek ka diyan Ris. Lola always comes to the rescue pag gimik days. :D
