Shopping dreams

April 14, 2010 in Just Jayme

They’re all on the counter. Every item I’ve ever wanted on my shopping list was there, neatly arranged in one row, ready to be packed in shiny colorful shopping bags.

The cashier seemed like a fairy godmother, the ls2208 scanner was like a magic wand in her hand. I was in shopaholic heaven.

Just then a deafening beeping sound echoed in the room.

Time to get up, dream over.

My shopaholic tendencies are surfacing again. I really should stay away from the mall for now if I want to win the battle between saving and spending.

As for the online shops and Ebay, that’s a different battle field altogether. My Paypal balance is starting to add up and, ironically, I’ve been finding more and more stores accepting it as a mode of payment. It’s so, so tempting to splurge with just a few clicks.

The thing about Paypal money is it’s so easy to dispose because you’re not holding the actual money in your hands. Besides, spending 20 or 50 dollars seems like a small amount to part with.

But I’d bet if you’re holding two one thousand peso bills in your hand, you’d think twice or thrice about spending it.

So yes, I’ve been restraining myself. Window shopping but not spending anything. The only way I can make my account grow for now is if I save it. I’ll think about investments later when my balance has reached 4 or 5 figures. And when the temptation gets a little too tough to resist, maybe I’ll spend just a tiny little bit. ;)

How shopaholic are you?

I am an occasional shopaholic. But I am not the incurable kind. LOL!

Haha… Good thing there’s no rehab for shopaholics. :D

lol. I used to be one, but what cured it was the pain to see the clutter the things bought have caused when they’re no longer needed and they have ceased to be ‘nouvelle’.
I’ll follow your blog. Mine is http://www.thesaladbowlmommy.blogspot.com/

Hey Kristine! Clutter never sounds good. But what I do is, for every new item I buy, I make sure to give one or two away so that I can still keep things tidy.

I’m glad to see you here and thanks for taking the time to comment. I’ve added your blog to my feed reader. Do drop by again soon. :)
