I was doing my usual brain break Youtube rounds when I clicked my way to this:
And now, I feel like I want to watch the whole movie for some sappy, cheesy, heartbreaking fun.
I can’t remember exactly why, but I’ve never watched Titanic. I know it seems strange because, when the movie came out, everybody and his neighbor seemed to have watched it. I never did.
I knew about the “I’m flying” scene and the sketch me “wearing this.. wearing only this…” scene from watching trailers. But I haven’t watched the whole movie in its entirety. I think I decided not to watch it then because the movie doesn’t have a happy ending.
Now, well, I’m just curious as to what I missed. It seems people loved it enough, there’s even a Titanic museum in Missouri. Branson vacations include the museum in their must visit list.
It’s a half-scale replica of the Titanic complete with the tip of the iceberg it crashed into. When you enter the lobby, you are given a boarding pass with the name of one of the 2,200 passengers on board that fateful day (creepy!) and you are toured through the 20 rooms in the ship containing memorabilia and artifacts. There’s even a memorial hall where you can trace the name on the boarding pass so you can find out if the person survived or died.
I guess if you watched the movie, you’ll be familiar with most of the rooms used in the scenes. If you’re lucky, you might even get on the deck of the ship and do your “I’m flying” scene ala Kate Winslet.
I’ll try to see if I can string together the movie on Youtube or find an old CD somewhere. Titanic anyone?

Well for for one one thing, I think you should definitly watch the movie. It’s a wonderful, albeit very sad movie, well worth the time to watch. I also found this entry interesting, because they do that same ticket-thing at the titanic exibit in the Toronto Science Center. (i happened to be someone with the same name as my aunt, who has an unusual name; Dagmar.) i survived by the way.
But definitly watch the movie.
