I usually love summer but this weather is just too hot. I dread stepping out because I feel like being thrown into an electric grill every time. It’s like the sun is literally burning through my skin.
Global warming, I know. Here’s hoping nature would mend itself somehow so the heat would be tolerable. It’s a good thing our neighborhood has a couple of trees along the street, we get an occasional breeze here and there.
How’s your summer vacation so far?
Last Holy Week was a real treat for our family because we were able to lounge around at home. All of us. Eating, sleeping, watching TV and playing… That’s about all we did the whole time. Sometimes the best vacation really is simply being able to rest and spend time with the family.
Lately, Kernan and I have been thinking of going on mini – vacations, an idea which I am all for. I think that would give us some semblance of balance between work and play. Sometimes we can take the kids, other times it can be just the two of us. The important thing is it would be pure leisure.
I remember reading before that it’s better to invest in experiences than material things. Beautiful memories are priceless.
Luckily, Kernan’s work now is so flexible he can go on a vacation undisturbed. I, on the other hand, need to plan my schedule more carefully.
I just realized that now that I’ve achieved my goal of partly working from home, it’s time to set a higher goal. One that means I can be my own boss and have total time and financial freedom.
A plan has been brewing on my mind lately and I’m going to work on it this summer. So that, when the time comes, we can take vacations whenever, wherever.
