Purging the addiction

I just deleted all links to online shops on my Google Chrome opening page. Let’s just say I’ve finally (or temporarily?) gotten over my online shopping phase.

A couple of months ago, I blogged about how I have this tendency to shop impulsively, especially online.

I think online shops are great. If you’re a small business owner, I think this one of the cheapest way to go. You don’t have to worry about rent for your storefront, acquiring security and POS systems or hiring staff. All you need is your awesome product, an online hub like Multiply or Ebay, your computer and your brilliant marketing plan and you’re all set.

But if you’re an impulsive shopper, online shops could be your wallet’s doom. Although, I like the convenience of shopping from home and having the item delivered to me, it was a potential bad habit in the making. Every time I would go online, the first sites I’ll visit were my favorite Multiply stores and Ebay. And when I find something I like, I’ll bid away.

The upside about shopping online is I get to snag unique outfits, most of them branded or designer, for a bargain price.

The downside is I don’t get to try them on so some of them get stuck in my closet because they don’t flatter me or they’re a bit too tight. One top I bought sure looked nice in the picture but after I wore it one time, it got a hole near the armpit area because the fabric was stitched loosely.

I recently did an inventory of my closet and I realized I was still better off with the clothes I bought from Unarosa, my former favorite shop. They were pricey, yes, but they’re still the ones I wear most of the time.

Oh well, lesson learned. ;)

I’ve resolved to stop shopping for clothes in the meantime because, as it is, I’ve already got a lot in my closet.

Besides, I’ve set my sights on shopping for something else: some kickass running gear. ;)
