Off to go running

My rubber shoes are now out of hiding. After being unused for a year and gathering some dust in the stockroom, it’s now going to be washed and scrubbed ’til it looks like new. They will see a lot of action this coming weeks. I intend to use them not just for my Hip Hop abs workouts but for something much bigger.

Kernan has joined a couple of fun runs in the coming months and I am joining him as official assistant, fan, photographer and cheerleader. Of course, I need to be in sporty gear too, so I’m also digging out my hot pink sweat pants from the clothes drawer. It’s been a long time since I last used it but thankfully it still fits.

But of course, I intend to be more than just a fan in the long run. He said there’s a couple’s fun run in February and I’m thinking we could do that together. It’s gonna take some work on my part though since I’ve been sedentary for a few months now.

I just need to amp up the workouts and start eating healthier. Since I’m planning to get into running, I’m also following my mom’s advice to take vitamins. Finally. The last time I had them was more than a year ago when I had to take prenatal vitamins for Kalia. There’s something about vitamins that makes my stomach queasy but I could sure use an extra boost in energy in the morning.

Running around the UP Oval also looks like a good way to practice. I tried jogging with Kernan before but I can’t keep up with his pace yet. I still have to build up endurance and strength in my leg muscles. This is gonna be a real challenge but I think it would be a whole lot more fun to get fit this way than go to the gym.
