Kernan and I finally got to see Velvet Mood play last night at Sulo Hotel. That’s one more thing crossed off our wedding to-do list. Yay!
Only the trio played, but they were pretty good. Alfred, the violinist, even gave us a free CD of their instrumentals. We only had time to listen to about two songs, one of them was my request, “Because of You.” They played it beautifully. And that was very important for Kernan and me because it was our theme song.
What made me decide was how I felt while listening to the song, it was as if I was hearing it for the first time. Remember how “Because of you” was revived over and over by different singers? The song became so overused and overplayed, I once felt tired of hearing it. But hearing Velvet play it made me remember why I loved the song so much, I just knew it had to be our song.
And I think that’s how great music makes you feel, it touches a chord in your heart and reaches out to your soul.
Now I’m thinking about all the songs to include for our wedding ceremony and reception.
Aside from “Because Of You,” another song that holds a special place in my heart is “Make Me Whole” by Amel Larrieux.
I used to sing it to Kernan before we sleep and later on to Jamaine during the days when she needed a lullaby to help her sleep.
Your eyes are windows to heaven
Your smile can heal a million souls
Your love completes my existence
You’re the other half that makes me whole
You’re the only other half that makes me whole
Wedding jitters
Wow, I can’t believe we’re finally getting married in December. Three months seem so fast.
After we had our civil wedding ceremony last year, our “real wedding” as we called it, seemed so far away. We postponed planning because there was Jamaine’s birth to look forward to and then her christening. We thought it would be better to handle the events one at a time.
But now that both are finally over, I’m beginning to feel some jitters about our wedding preparations.
My biggest challenge is getting back my pre-pregnancy shape so that my gown would fit beautifully.
I’ve tried dieting a bit which is quite hard because I’m breastfeeding. I’m also trying to do some Pilates which really takes a lot of my patience but I’m keeping at it.
Kernan assures me that I’m beautiful and I’m not fat, I just need to tone my tummy. I’m sure every mom knows how hard that could be!
I know I just have to exercise a little more determination and persistence. I keep looking at my pictures before and hubby’s FHM mags to motivate me to get fit.
Hopefully, by next month, I’ll be seeing some progress.
My affirmation for the day: “I am looking fit and fabulous on my wedding day!”
