My poor books are crying.
I haven’t picked up anyone of them in the last three months or so and they’re feeling neglected.
I remember this story I read from my Enid Blyton book years ago when I was a kid. It was about a girl whose borrowed books walked out of her shelf and returned to their rightful owners.
I imagine, in my case, it will happen with a twist: my books will walk out of my shelf and lend (or give!) themselves to other people who will actually read them.
Back in the days when I used to work in TV and I didn’t blog, I used to read more often. I would frequent Powerbooks, Fully Booked, National Bookstore and even stores that sell used books to hunt for personal development and inspirational tomes.
I have a modest collection of books: some of which I’ve read cover to cover, some I’ve read halfway, some only skimmed. I once resolved that I would make time to go back for the books I haven’t finished and continue reading them again.
Fast forward to today when I’m working online and blogging so much more, I often forget to read. The last one I read was Shakti Gawain’s Creative Visualization. I haven’t even finished Infinite Possibilities and only skimmed through the chapter I liked. I’ve started reading another Shakti book but I have yet to finish it too.
So now, I’m making a reading list for June to remind myself that, if I want to become a better writer and blogger, for that matter, I need to read.
I’m setting a realistic goal of three books for the month of June:
- Creating True Prosperity by Shakti Gawain
- Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley
- Life’s Missing Instruction Manual by Joe Vitale
I will find the time to read them whether it’s after I wake up, during my lunch break, before I sleep. I’ll make time if I have to.
While reading blogs and websites are good, I think reading books will always be better.
Besides, I do remember when I used to read a lot, I also wrote better.
What’s on your reading list?

I also haven’t read much lately. The book in my night stand is “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”. I have been meaning to finish it. Maybe I’ll find time to do it this month.
Happy reading!
.-= josiet´s last blog ..A contest! =-.
I have that too.
I’ve finished reading it but I want to read it again. It’s got some really great nuggets of wisdom.
