My new sleeping partner

Kernan and I have been sleeping on separate beds for close to two months now. We both agreed that this is the best option for both of us considering the risks involved.

It takes some getting used to and we still find it difficult sometimes. But we both know it’s something we have to do.

You see, someone has invaded Kernan’s space in the cushy territory.

The bed invader

Jamaine has become a shifting sleeper. Before she would just stay in one position from the moment she falls alseep to the time she wakes up. Now she shifts to different sleeping positions as long as the space allows her.

We’ve tried placing her at the side of the bed next to the wall, but she manages to remove the pillow barrier and comes dangerously close to banging her head on the concrete. We tried positioning her between Kernan and me, but Kernan is constantly shifting in his sleep as well and almost hit Jamaine with his elbows a couple of times.

So we decided it was time someone moved out of the bed.

Since she was born, Jamaine couldn’t sleep peacefully in her crib because she feels isolated there. Moving her was out of the question. I, of course, needed to sleep beside her so I can’t transfer too.

Poor Daddy Kernie was the odd man out so he now sleeps in a cushion on the floor beside our bed. He says sleeping on the floor does wonders for his back and that he likes his new bed. But I’m sure he still wants to sleep next to us.

Anyway, we both agreed this is a temporary arrangement until we buy a bigger bed so we could all fit in.

When she sleeps, Jamaine loves snuggling close to me so much that she cries when I’m not there. That’s why I still can’t go on overnight trips that would take me away from home because Jamaine cannot sleep on her own yet. (And I’m pretty sure I can’t sleep alone too. Thinking about her would keep me up all night!)

Her sleeping cycle is still unpredictable. Sometimes she’ll sleep early and peacefully, other times she’d sleep late and toss and turn in bed. I guess I’d have to wait a couple more years before she sleeps normally.

The good thing is no matter how good or bad her sleep was, she’d always wake up in a sunshiney mood.

Seeing her face in the morning always makes my day. I wouldn’t mind waking up like this for the years to come.

Jamaine and Mommy Jayme

It feels so wonderful to feel your baby’s love everyday. I would not miss it for the world.

I have to say, that’s a lovely ‘invader’.

:)

I don’t know what your husband looks like so I’m guessing Jamaine got her eyes from you.

Splendid.

Yup, and I’m glad she did. A lot of people say she looks like her dad but I’m proud to say that she got my eyes and my sweet temper.
:)
