My favorite time and place

My Jamaine and meOne of the dialogues that stuck with me from the movie Love Actually is the one between Jamie (Colin Firth) and Aurelia (Lucia Moniz) that went something like:

“It’s my favorite time of day…. driving you.” Aurelia answers: “It’s the saddest part of my day…. leaving you.”

My favorite time of day has always been waking up in the morning next to my hubby. Now my little bundle of love Jamaine has been making mornings super, extra special for my Kernie and me. We always look forward to her wide toothless grin whenever she wakes up. Her smile always looks like sunshine even during the gloomiest morning.

(I’ve been waiting to capture her smile in real photos though, most of the pics I have of her smile were stolen. She has yet to overcome her curiousity about cameras so she ends up staring at the lens just like in the pic above.)

Seeing my “two happy babies” every morning is such a wonderful moment that I won’t give up for anything. They make me feel a sense of gratitude each time for the wonderful life I’ve been blessed with.

I’ve rediscovered one of my favorite songs from way back that sums up that feeling:

For me it’s waking up beside you

to watch the sunrise on your face

to know that I can say I love you

in any given time or place…

- Flying Without Wings, Westlife

I am not really a boy band fan but Westlife definitely did something right with this song. It’s so touching, I almost cry every time I hear it.

Of course, the saddest part of my day is always leaving Jamaine at home. My office is like 5 minutes away but I miss my baby still. That’s why I always keep her photos and videos in my phone so that whenever I’m gone more than 8 hours from home I won’t miss her terribly.

I have yet to think about how I’m gonna handle being away from her for days. Yes, I love traveling, and I’m fortunate my job allows me to do that. Sometimes I miss it, but when I look at my baby, I realize nothing beats being with her even if its only within the four walls of our home.

I hope it would be a long, long time before I would be required to travel again. I think I couldn’t help missing Jamaine and worrying about her every second. Other people might think that’s too much but I think that this is something you can never truly feel and understand until you become a mother. All of a sudden, you really feel the full meaning of: “There’s no place like home.”

Whatever happens, being with the two people I love most will always be my favorite time of day. And wherever I go, my favorite place will always be home.

What’s your favorite time and place?

I cannot wait for him to actually smile and see if she has her mother’s smile or her dad’s.

@Ria: Yup, I’m so happy she got my eyes. A lot of people are telling me she looks so much like her dad. I’m praying everyday that I won’t be asked to be away from her because of work.

@Rach: You should hear her giggle. Just like an angel. :D
