I’m on Plurk!

in Blogging, Just Jayme, Miscellany

I’ve never been an active member of social media sites. I’ve signed up for Digg, Stumbleupon, and Twitter but I’ve hardly used my accounts.

But when I got the tip from Shai about Plurk, something about it just made me want to dive right in. It’s like Twitter but I think it’s much cooler.

You can see your posts and the responses to your posts in a neat timeline. You can use emoticons too. :D

Jayme's Plurk timeline

Below the timeline, there’s a profile box showing a little info about you, your karma points, your friends and fans.

Getting Plurk karma points lets you access more usage and customization privileges such as having more available emoticons, changing your dashboard theme and choosing a Plurk creature.

Just like Twitter, Plurk also has a customizable widget that you can display on your blog’s sidebar or Facebook page. Scroll down my homepage and check out my pink Plurk widget.

Happy plurking!

Pretty much like a Twitter clone but it looks fun and use color to emphasize moods. Unlike Twitter, does it work with the iphone or other mobile? I can’t help but to compare it to Twitter of course because Twitter is an open API (application program interface) and the ability to stay connected in a way that you like. If it does the same thing, then pretty much I’d give it a try til I’d get used to it or continue Tweeting instead. Thanks for sharing.

Are you on my Tweet btw? Add me – http://twitter.com/noyzki

I think they have a mobile version, but it seems the feature/service to upload from a mobile is down still. Will add you up when I activate my Twitter. :D I haven’t actually used it yet.

Hey Toni! Plurk really has some neat features. In his post differentiating Plurk and Twitter, Darren Rowse said “Plurk seems to have emerged out of a younger crowd than Twitter…” Really suits us young people, don’t you think? ;)

I agree with you.. definitely cooler than twitter. Currently, lageng down ang server ng twitter so mahirap mag-update.

Hopefully magkaroon ng mga 3rd party application ang plurk so I can download and use it directly instead na magvvisit pa sa site..

I read a lot of blog posts about Twitter being down that’s why I never bothered to activate my account. I checked Plurk’s IM option but it seems it’s under maintenance or something. Meanwhile, I’m still enjoying posting in the site. I love the timeline thing. Thanks for visiting my blog Honeul. :D
