I love green tea

March 22, 2010 in Health and fitness

I call it my instant fat burner. After every meal, I drink green tea and I feel like it’s burning all the excess fat I took in.

Even if I ate a bit more than I usually do, I still feel light after drinking this healthy brew. And it’s not just my imagination because research proves it too. ;)

In a study, overweight adults who engaged in an exercise program for 12 weeks lost more belly fat if they also drank green tea daily. The green tea seemed to boost overall weight loss and triglyceride control in the study group, too. The magic amount of tea needed for the effect? Enough to get about 625 milligrams of catechins plus a little caffeine every day (roughly 7 cups daily). – A Drink for a Smaller Waist, Realage.com

Studies showed that the catechins in green tea fire up the body’s fat burning process. So if you exercise and drink green tea, you may lose weight more. Seven cups is equal to about 3 full mugs. So drinking a mug-full of tea three times a day makes me reach that quota.

My weight hasn’t budged yet but I’m not bothered because my tummy is becoming more flat. It’s not yet toned, which is my long term goal, but I’m getting there with the help of my yoga sessions. ;)

Swimsuit season is almost here and sometimes it gets tempting to try out those quick fix fat burners and hgh supplements. But I promised myself I’ll stick to the natural way so I’m maintaining my yoga and green tea combo. I’m still not dieting, just controlling my portions.

I also found out that the antioxidants in green tea help keep the skin looking smooth and young. Pretty cool benefits from a bland hot drink. ;)

See drinking hot green tea is not as pleasurable as drinking hot chocolate. Sometimes, it seems like I’m just drinking hot water. Other times, I feel like I’m drinking, well… leaves. But whenever I think of the benefits I get from it, I feel like drinking even more. It’s like my health and beauty elixir.

What’s your health drink of choice?

I wrote a post before about Kozui Green Tea Cafe. They have a wide selection of yummy green-tea based drinks plus yummy healthy dishes. It’s a cool hang out too. :)

I had read about that particular benefit of green tea too. But I am hesitant to drink because it might made me feel like having to poo at a very undesirable circumstance. Is green tea similar to those tea’s that promises sexy body?

Hey Minnie, I’m not quite sure but you must be referring to Kankunis? I think this tea is specifically targeted at weight loss so I won’t be surprised if this will make you poo.

I drink Lipton’s Green Tea and it doesn’t have that effect. Initially, I just drank it for the health benefits. But when I did some research about it and I found out that it helps burns fat, that gave me even more motivation to drink 3 mugs a day. ;)

I see, will try Lipton Green Tea. I am drinking Sambong Tea (Golden Spoon) each morning for my menstrual cramps, but it did not help a bit. So, probably I’ll just have green tea. Actually, I tried one now from Starbucks. :)

Which green tea do you drink? I drink my last mug close to sleeping time too. It has a soothing effect on me.
