Our girls are taking taekwondo lessons this summer. All thanks to Kung Fu Panda.

Hubby is actually a taekwondo jin and he’s just one level shy of a black belt. He has always said he wanted the girls to take up taekwondo lessons but I told him we should run the idea by them first and see if they show any interest. Besides, we just bought them some new chalkboards and art stuff, they have plenty of things to do to study and learn more here at home before school opens again.
One time, we let them watch Kung Fu panda and the girls easily took on Po’s moves. “Mommy, pretend you’re the monster and I will do this!” Jamaine would say while throwing some kicks.
Days after we watched the movie, they would still pretend to be kung fu warriors so we finally asked, “Do you want to go to taekwondo class?” “Okay Mommy.”
Actually, they don’t know the difference yet of taekwondo and all the other martial arts. So far, it’s all the same to them. They’ve had three sessions already and they’re enjoying it. Hubby says he wants them to continue until they reach black belt.
As long as the kids want it and feel like being Po, then it’s a go.
