Fashionable recycled furniture

October 8, 2009 in Home

When you’re tired of your old mattress and want a new one, should you throw it away?

Dutch designer Frank Willems doesn’t think so. Frank believes you can create masterpieces from existing materials with just a little dose of creativity.

So he decided to recycle old mattresses and gave them an extreme makeover to create the Rubens Collection.

The mattress is folded differently for every piece of art furniture.

Fitted with legs from another recycled chair.

And painted with a fabulous color.

Fashionable and functional can be eco-friendly too.

The SCRAP project’s main goal is to pick up unwanted pieces of furniture on the sidewalks/trash, restore them and and give them a second life. My work is both practical and poetical, I hope you’ll enjoy it. Here’s my website.

Hi Marjolaine, thank you for dropping by my blog and taking the time to leave a comment. Your furniture pieces look really nice, I’m thinking of featuring them in a future post. I admire the work you do and, as I always say, efforts like these can go a long way to help save our environment. Keep up the good work! :D
