I’m on Plurk!

Posted July 1st, 2008 by Jayme

I’ve never been an active member of social media sites. I’ve signed up for Digg, Stumbleupon, and Twitter but I’ve hardly used my accounts.

But when I got the tip from Shai about Plurk, something about it just made me want to dive right in. It’s like Twitter but I think it’s much cooler.

You can see your posts and the responses to your posts in a neat timeline. You can use emoticons too. :D

Ice cream + bloggers = Poppin’ fun!

Posted June 27th, 2008 by Jayme

It was like a mini-children’s party complete with balloons, great food, fun games, cool gifts and lots of ice cream. Only that the “children” were actually bloggers who were kids at heart.

The Nestle Poppin’ Bloggin’ event held last night at the Nestle Creamery gathered ice cream loving bloggers together for the launch of one of the newest and coolest surprise from its freezer: Nestle Pops.

The first blogger dinner for Nestle

It was Nestle’s first blogger dinner.

In case, you’re beginning to imagine popsicles on a stick, let me give you a sneak preview of what Nestle Pops is.

Identifying stress triggers and stress relievers

Posted June 12th, 2008 by Jayme

I’m feeling better and stronger everyday. I know my body is doing its best to heal itself. I know I’ll feel good as new when the week ends.

I’ve been reciting this mantra to myself for the past days, just a little something to shift my mood and attention away from pain.

I’ve been going through a rollercoaster of postpartum emotions.

Sometimes, I’d feel so happy, I’m like the perfect portrait of a new mom.

Other times, I’d feel so down, even a milk commercial can easily make me cry.

Still, there are times when I’d feel so blank and empty.

I’ve read that in situations like these, it helps to identify your stress triggers and to attack them with stress relievers.

What’s your logo?

Posted May 31st, 2008 by Jayme

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you see the following images?

Apple logo

Nike logo

Google logo

The first one reminds me of the first gadget in my wishlist: a hot Macbook.

The second one makes me feel empowered with the “Just do it!” tag line ringing in my head.

And the third one, for me, is one of the best things ever about the internet.

My personal goals for May and beating the big P

Posted May 7th, 2008 by Jayme

I love clean slates and blank pages.

For me, it means new chances, fresh starts and more opportunities to make the most out of life.

Whether we are coming from a place of difficulty or a place of success, there is always that place up ahead: a chance to learn and grow or a beginning of a new adventure.

I think that no matter who we are, where we are or what circumstances we are in, we all have a chance and a choice to close one chapter and open another.

Resolutions are not exclusive to the New Year.

If we choose to, we can turn our lives around at any given moment at any time we want.

We can only be bound by the limits we set for ourselves.

And if we believe that anything is possible, then everything becomes boundless.

Half of the year has almost gone by and I ask myself, “What do I want to do differently this time? What do I want to change?”

Grateful girl and influential blogger

Posted May 6th, 2008 by Jayme

One of the best pieces of advice I ever received is

Always begin the day with gratitude.

Every morning, I write in my journal the things I’m thankful for — from the simplest gift of being able to wake up to a brand new day to the greatest blessing of having all my loved ones with me.

I find that being thankful in the morning sets the tone for the whole day, I tend to look out for the good things and I can say good things do come to me.

When I logged in my dashboard this morning, this nice little message in my “incoming links” box welcomed me.

When I clicked on the link, I found that fellow hot momma blogger JoanJoyce mentioned me as one of her picks for the Top 10 Emerging Influential Bloggers in 2008.

The search is actually a writing project launched by author and blogger Ms. Janette Toral to spot new and emerging blogs. Bloggers who participate in the project are eligible for a chance to win $100. If you want to nominate yourself or your picks, read the guidelines or head on over to the Influential Blogger site to learn more.

I blog because it’s good therapy and writing practice for me. But knowing that I have inspired or moved even just one person with my posts gives it a whole new meaning.

Three things that made my week

Posted May 4th, 2008 by Jayme

My new moleskine

1. My new moleskine

I finally caved in. But this time, of course, I’ve already used up my two old idea notebooks which gives me “reason” to get this new one. I just decided to have one idea notebook this time since my achy back requires that I bring a lighter bag every day. Does it have to be a moleskine? Not really, but it’s something that I’ve been lusting after for a long time so I just went ahead and got it. It’s only been with me for a day but I’ve already filled up four pages which means it’s inspired me to write a lot. It’s my new writing best friend.

Can you tell your (motherhood) story in 6 words?

Posted April 24th, 2008 by Jayme

Pop on over at Smith Magazine’s Six Word Momoirs and give it a try.

I think writing a 1,000 word memoir is relatively easier than summing up everything you want to say in just 6 words. You have to think harder for words that will really capture the essence of what you mean.

Six Word Momoirs is actually a contest for moms, I entered two entries just for fun. :)
