Blessings

December 12, 2010 in Miscellany

Sometimes when things don’t turn out the way you want them to, you just have to see the blessing that it is.

Yesterday, I planned on attending a college reunion, I had my dress and shoes ready. I even had make up on. But something inside me was holding me back from going.

On our way to the venue, Iya was feeling weak and had a fever. It didn’t help that the traffic was so heavy. I took it as a sign that I really shouldn’t go. It would have been fun to see old friends and colleagues. Besides, it’s been ages since I last went to a party. But my baby needed me and my personal policy is family always comes first.

We went home and Kernan had the brilliant idea of having a picnic of burgers and fried chicken that, thanks to his credit card, we got for free from Jollibee. It would have been perfect if Iya had been feeling well. But unglamorous as a house picnic may seem, nothing beats being with my family.

I wanted to stay up the whole night and work on some assignments. (The Baldwin hardware article was due last night.) But Iya was tossing and turning so much, I could barely separate myself from her. I was a bit worried about missing out on my assignment’s deadlines. But when I logged in this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see the original assignment was still there plus four more.

It’s a lazy Sunday today. Iya is feeling well albeit a little bit weak, contentedly watching Up on DVD. Kernan cooked the best tasting lugaw. Jamaine is bouncing around, healthy and happy as can be. I was able to catch up on sleep and a little bit of work. There will be more parties to come. And I would gladly miss any of them if it means spending precious time with my bundles of love.

Yes, life is good. :)
