I’m not much of a flowers person. When special events or anniversaries come by, I’d much rather receive a new book, a brand spanking Moleskine journal or maybe a certificate for a shopping spree. I guess I’m boring that way.
But when I do receive flowers, I revel in them. The first time I held a beautiful and huge bouquet of flowers was when I won a pageant years ago. There’s something about holding a bouquet in your arms that makes you feel royal and extra special.
Remember that Chicken Soup for the Soul story where, after the man died, he arranged for a rose to be delivered to his wife every day, year after year. Imagine receiving a red rose everyday, it’s like an endless celebration of Valentine’s the whole year. Mushy I know, but you’ve got to appreciate romantic and thoughtful men.
Here’s a handy tip for men who tend to forget important dates or anniversaries (thankfully, my Kernie doesn’t). I don’t know which came first, but Proflowers offers this service, 12 months of roses or assorted flowers. Just determine your anniversary date and have flowers delivered on that day every month. That’s what I call thoughtfulness on automation.

If you want to see some stunning bouquets, check out their site at http://www.proflowers.com. It’s a visual feast over there, you may be tempted to get flowers just for the sake of it.
Which makes me think, if you ask me what would make a perfect gift, I’d say all the stuff I mentioned above and… flowers.
