An almost perfect weekend

My November was off to an awesome start and I just know this is going to be a great month.

Last Sunday morning, I went to the Victory Christian Fellowship Service in UP. I have to admit, it felt tempting to stay in bed since weekends are the only days I get to sleep in. But my angels were tugging at me so off I went.

Kernan dropped me off at the UP Theater before he went for his weekly jog around the oval. Of course, I wished he would come with me, but I know these things take time. In God’s time. ;)

There were only a few people in the theater, not even half full. The gathering wasn’t as “alive” as the ones I attended in Galleria and Greenhills but I’m guessing it’s because people still feel low – energy at 9am.

Despite the less than responsive group, the band did a great job with the worship. They sang “Name of Jesus” which I already know by heart because Citipointe’s Devoted has been playing over and over in our DVD player at home and in my Ipod.

The highlight of the service was a thought – provoking question the pastor posed during his talk: “If you knew you were an eternal being, how would you live differently?”

Have you ever thought about that?

I wrote that question down in my notebook to remind me to reflect on it even more. Most of the time, we think of our lives in the short term perspective. We get carried away with the mundane concerns of the moment that we forget to do the things that really matter.

When we got home, Kernan and I had lunch together — a very rare occasion because of my regular work and his irregular schedules — one of those seemingly ordinary moments that I value a lot.

When he got to work, I had plenty of blogging time on my hands which finally allowed me to update my Love Dare series for Jayme’s Journal.

After dinner, I watched “The Holiday” then “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.”

Close to bedtime, Jamaine and Kalia finally arrived from their overnight stay at their aunt’s place. Kalia was already fast asleep but Jamaine was still a ball of energy.

We had a mini – concert singing along with the Devoted DVD.

It was a good weekend, something that really got my week to a great start.

I said “almost perfect” though because I wanted to spend more time with the kids and Kernan at home.

Hubby has been working so hard for the past months with the double projects coming his way. And though I’m very grateful for the blessings, part of me still wishes work didn’t have to take him away so much from us.

That’s one of the many reasons I’m really trying to establish my online ventures. Yes, our family is comfortable and we both have jobs in a stable company. But I’m aiming for total financial freedom when money comes abundantly and continuously.

How did your weekend go?
