Classic beauty or modern chic?

I’ve always said that I don’t feel like much of a homemaker yet. But lately, I’ve been interested in interior design and home furniture, all in anticipation of our big move and, eventually, the construction of our own home.

I’m experiencing split personality though with all the designs I’ve been browsing. Part of me wants classic beautiful furniture while part of me veers toward modern chic stuff.

Actually, I want the second choices more (the console bookshelves are my favorite! :) ) but I feel like they would be more appropriate for my own pink house rather than a family home.

Kernan says he wants the house to be simple, stylish and minimalist. I like stylish but I want a healthy dose of color and a little bit of flair.

Anyway, we still have a couple of years to plan our dream home. Maybe we could plan a house that has different themed rooms so we can satisfy each other’s style cravings.

What kind of home style do you prefer: classic and beautiful or modern and chic?

I want a mixture of classic and modern. Like the house be modern while the furnishing be classic or the other way around. Zen is in but how about having zen with colors :D

I like both. I am starting to hoard home mags as we are going to furnish our little condo soon. With a lot of designs to choose from, I am constantly changing taste too :)

Wow, that sounds exciting! :) Does your hubby let you take complete control of everything? My hubby kasi lived alone for quite some time that’s why he wants a certain look for the house too. I’ll have to see how we can reconcile our tastes.

Decorating a home starts with the color scheme. The colors chosen should be complementary to the furnishings. When we decorated our home, I consulted a color psychology guide which showed the emotions and moods brought about by certain colors chosen.

Since the home is a reflection of the owner’s personality, choose the colors wisely and benefit from your home’s positive energy ;-)
