Emu Oil: beauty from bird’s fat
Can oil from a bird’s fat really be such a great beauty wonder?
I stumbled across Emu Oil while browsing through Blusche Mineral’s online catalog.
According to the site:
Emu oil is a natural pain relieving, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing oil with a PH balance very close to human skin. The product is obtained from the fat of Emu birds which originated from the lands of Australia. Originally the Australian Aborigines used emu oil for minor aches and pains, to heal wounds, and protect their skin. Its oil is world renowned for its ability to deeply penetrate all five epidermis layers of the skin providing nutrients like (EFA) - essential fatty acids Omega-3 & Omega-6. This is what gives Emu Oil its moisturizing, pain relieving and anti-inflammatory capabilities.
The site also included a very long list of of ailments and skin conditions which can be treated with Emu Oil as well as its various uses. Among those that caught my attention were:
- acne
- dry skin
- conditioning hair
- irritated skin
- scar prevention
- stretchmarks
- wrinkles and fine lines
With all the benefits this product claimed to have, my interest was piqued.
I emailed Monica, the owner of Blusche Minerals, to inquire if Emu Oil was safe to use with other moisturizers. I haven’t fully consumed my Arsainte cream from The Face Shop but I was too eager to try what seems to be a “wonder beauty product.”
Monica was swift to reply and informed me that Emu Oil can be used over moisturizer and sunscreen to serve as a makeup base but it can also be used alone as a moisturizer. She said she has been using Emu Oil for some time and attests that the product does work wonders.
This I had to see for myself.
I ordered for a 75 ml bottle and Monica was kind enough to give me a discount. She said her new shipment of Emu Oil had just arrived and it was on sale at 10% off.
My order arrived last Tuesday and I tested it right away. As of now, I’ve only used the product four times: thrice as a night moisturizer and once as a makeup base and I’m starting to be convinced that Emu Oil may really have amazing benefits for the skin.
Putting Emu Oil to the test
Following Monica’s advice, I was careful to squirt only a drop of Emu Oil on my palm since it is very potent. It was actually more than enough for my whole face so I applied the extra oil on my neck and on a scar on my leg.
The oil was quickly absorbed by my skin. Even if I used it over my Arsainte moisturizer, it did not have a greasy feel. My skin did not look oily at all and it felt smooth and soft all over.
The surprising thing is my face even stayed matte until I woke up the next morning.
The night before, I also noticed a small red bump on my right cheek which was threatening to become a pimple. But when I woke up the next morning, it was gone without a trace.
I tried using Emu Oil as a makeup base for my MMU and it actually made application glide more smoothly. The best thing is it also helped keep my oilies down up to about four hours.

With my former moisturizer and sunscreen, my T-zone usually gets oily after only 15 minutes.
Of course, it’s too early for me to say that this product has done wonders for me but so far, I like the early results I’m seeing and I can’t wait to see how it really improves my skin.
I also began applying Emu Oil on my stretch marks. I know countless sources have said that stretch marks can never be removed by a topical treatment, but I still want to to give it a try.
I’ll keep you posted on future developments.
If you know of other wonder beauty products, I’d love to hear all about them.
