In the Spotlight: All Jayme

This is a long overdue promise to Joel of Ceskypooh and I thought it would be better if I answer this meme on my new blog just to give some background about me.

This meme was started by Ms. Christy of Christyâ??s Coffee Break. The best thing about this is you don’t need to be tagged to do it, you can just choose to answer this meme on your blog. If you want to participate, read her rules first.

What makes All Jayme different from other blogs?
It’s about me and everything I love. I consider myself a positive person so I think most of my posts here will be more raves than rants. I think everybody’s blog is different, that’s the beauty of the uniqueness innate in every person. There can only be one you and one me.

When did I start blogging?
I started blogging in November 26, 2004 with a Blogger blog. It was a friend from the office who introduced me to blogging. Since I was a writer at heart, blogging had a tremendous appeal to me. The idea of having a “public diary” was unimaginable to me at first. But I saw the freedom it gave me and the connections it allowed me to have with other people who I may not have met otherwise. Needless to say I got hooked. Of course, I had my off days, but the writer/blogger in me will always be alive. And so here I am, still blogging!

Is this the first time Iâ??ve been tagged?
No. This is the second tag for me as a blogger but this is the first meme for this site.

Have you set goals for your blog?
I set up my blog primarily for self-expression. This is where I can write anything I want. But considering my (future) readers, whether it’s an article or a blog, my goal is always to give valuable information and/or inspiring insights that they can learn from.

Whatâ??s your opinion on â??blog popularityâ?? issues?
I don’t want to be popular. I just want to be helpful and inspiring. So whether it’s one reader or one thousand, as long as I know they have been helped, inspired or moved by something that I wrote, then I consider my blogging worthwhile.

As for those who actively strive to be popular bloggers or think it is an issue, well I respect them for as long as they become popular by virtue of their own accomplishments as bloggers and not by trampling on others.

Do I have any fond childhood memories?
One of my favorite childhood memories happened when I was around six years old. We were still living in Laguna then in a bungalow with a lawn and a backyard. (I guess you could say, we were still living in the good times then.) It was a hot summer day and my brother and I thought it would be cool to go swimming. But we were miles away from the beach and we had no swimming pool. So Papa pulled the linoleum from the floor, placed it in the lawn, propped it with hollow blocks along the sides while Mama filled it with water. And within minutes, we had our own makeshift swimming pool. Of course, the water was like two feet deep but it was just as fun frolicking in a “linoleum pool” as much as in the beach. What really stuck with me was how, even with the simplest gestures, our parents always tried to give us whatever we wanted and more.

If I get stranded on a remote island, what three things do I want to have with me?
I’d want to have a great book, a journal with a pen and a Smart Link phone with the strongest signal so I can call my loved ones and ask them to rescue me fast!

Am I a spiritual person?
I believe so. I was baptized a Catholic and remained a prayerful one until my highschool years. But when I got exposed to other religions and beliefs, I saw the similarity that prevailed over all their differences and that is the belief in one supreme Being or God. And that is something that I continue to hold on to. I haven’t been praying in the traditional sense but I consider my writing as my way of getting in touch with my spirit, knowing my deepest self and communing with God.

Whatâ??s the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me?
Everything has an element of weirdness…

Whatâ??s my best quality?
My optimism and my burning desire to always improve myself.

Whatâ??s my worst quality?
Mindlessness
